Grey Hare TavernSometimes visiting an area bar can make people feel as though they’ve fallen down a rabbit hole. The Gray hare Tavern, a new establishment on Route 24, is offering an alternative its owner hope many will find appealing, “People have been banging on the doors every day”, said Bill Sharp, Gray Hare Tavern owner.
Sharp has spent hours setting up the tavern, which he said is geared to appeal the tastes of those 30 and older. “But I’m not turning anybody away as long as they are over 21,” he said.
The Gray Hare features 40 varieties of bottled beer and six varieties of draft. There are three new pool tables and several electronic games, all centered on a 40-person bar with deep cushioned barstools.
There are four big-screen TVs, viewable from two side of the bar, an automated teller machine and a jukebox that features popular music, most of it recorded from 1965 though 1985. If Neil Diamod, The Grateful Dead, Foghat, George Jones, Joe Walsh or the Rolling Stones don’t strike a chord, the Hare’s taste in beer should be a perfect fit Sharp said live DJs would also sometimes provide some of the Hare’s entertainment.
The Gray Hare will have happy hour from 3 to 7pm, daily. Sharp said although the tavern doesn’t serve food, customers are welcome to bring in their own or have it delivered.
